Ultherapy® is the only FDA-approved treatment to noninvasively lift and tighten the eyebrow, neck and underchin area – and even improve lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a noninvasive treatment that uses ultrasound waves to stimulate collagen production in the skin and subdermal tissue. The treatment is FDA-approved and is thoroughly established as a safe and effective treatment with over half a million successful treatments carried out worldwide. In addition to using ultrasound therapy to treat the skin, the clinician also uses ultrasound imaging to monitor the layers of tissue being treated to ensure that the energy reaches the areas that need it most.
How does Ultherapy work?
Ultherapy sends ultrasound energy to the foundation layer of the skin where collagen production is stimulated, effectively lifting and tightening the upper layer of the skin for a more youthful appearance. The treatment is completely noninvasive, with no needles or toxins piercing the skin. In fact, unlike other skin tightening treatments that use radiofrequency waves, lasers, other forms of light therapy or surgery, the surface level of the skin is bypassed by the energy waves and only the lowest layers of the skin, where collagen is produced, are affected. Clients who have this service can return to their day-to-day lives immediately following treatment. Most clients see an improvement of the skin after their first treatment; however, with best results being revealed at six months post after their Ultherapy treatment.
What happens during the procedure?
Before any treatment takes place, the clinician will provide a consultation to determine if Ultherapy will be a suitable treatment. When a client arrives for treatment, the area of skin that will be treated is cleansed and an ultrasound gel will be applied. The clinician will use a traditional ultrasound transducer to determine how deeply the ultrasound energy will need to penetrate the skin for optimal effectiveness. Once the best areas for treatment are identified, the energy will be focused to target that layer of the skin and subdermal tissue. Some clients report feeling tiny amounts of energy entering the skin, while others say they do not feel anything at all during treatment. The length of time necessary for treatment is determined by the size of the area being treated. Most face and neck sessions last between 60 to 90 minutes.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is most effective on those with mild to moderate loss of skin elasticity. For example, loose skin around the neck or chin, wrinkles on the chest or a lower eyebrow resulting in hooding on the eyelid.
